As a subscriber to Microsoft office 365, I pay for the included technical support. In my experience they are negligent and incompetent. The communication between the various levels of support appears to be nonexistent.
I had to change the drive letter where I store my Outlook files. I made the appropriate changes in Outlook directing the program to the new location. I kept getting an error message that the files could not be accessed.
This was about a week ago. I got in touch with Microsoft Technical Support. The tech took control of my computer and proceeded to create a new profile. He could not finish and advised that he needed to do some research and would call me back at 11 AM Eastern standard Time the next morning. This did not happen. Instead my computer was left worse than when he took over.
I tried calling the support number. Three times I was connected with level I and after providing my ticket number which when viewed should show the history purported to arrange for me to be called back by level II within two hours. Three times this didn’t happen.
In the meantime, after several hours on hold I was connected with a level II tech. She advised that she would fix the problem. I was told I could disconnect the call and she would call me back when she needed me. About 1/2 an hour later I noticed my computer screen was green and it said it was restarting. I assume she was busy and left the room. I came back periodically and the screen had not changed. By that evening, some eight hours later, the screen had not changed. I restarted the computer only to find that the job was not finished and I had not been contacted by the tech.
I have sent emails to the answer desk. They reply that they’ve tried to contact me [I’m a lawyer and have multiple layers of messages] No calls appeared on the CID or were there messages. I would reply with my number and a time to call as requested in the email. Next I would get back the same idiotic email claiming to have tried to contact me and telling me because I hadn’t responded they were closing my case.
I called in again today and wasted 1/2 an hour with someone at level I who then promised me a call from level to today. Nothing.
You would think such an organization would be more concerned about their customer service. I have made enough phone calls and sent enough emails with my case number, that a responsible well-run technical support would arrange to get in touch with the customer and explain, apologize for and repair their negligence.
I have given up. I have wasted so much time trying to find someone at level II to take ownership of this disaster. I have little confidence that it will happen after my experience to date.
It is my intention to bring a lawsuit against Microsoft in Canada for their breach of contract and negligence in failing to provide the service I have paid for. If anyone else has had a similar experience please advise and we can consider a CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT
There is a famous story about the late Frank Sinatra and the late comedian Don Rickles which seems apropos for the recent dealings between Trump and Kim.
Frank Sinatra was in a restaurant in LA when he was approached by his good friend comedian Don Rickles. Rickles told him that he was having dinner with some very important people and could Frank possibly drop by the table and say hello. Sinatra said he’d be happy to. Part way through the dinner Frank Sinatra gets up and approaches Don Rickles table. He stops and taps Don Rickles on the shoulder. He says “hi Don. It’s great to see you, thought I’d just come over and say hello”.
Rickles looked up at Sinatra and in a loud irritated voice said “Frank, can’t you see I’m busy here.”.
Kim’s suggestion of a meeting followed by negative rhetoric is a page right out of Don Rickles book.
That being said, I would prefer the late Don Rickles as a leader over Trump or Kim.
The news is filled with stories about Donald Trump’s sexual escapades with Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to name but two. He is being judged and berated for cheating on his wife. I am no fan of Donald Trump. I recognize there may be some issues as to breach of campaign finance laws in the payments to women. No president has ever suffered lasting political damage just for adultery. Cover-up is a different story.
When looking at the 20th-century, the list of adulterous presidents is not short. There was Bill Clinton. Gerry Ford favoured young women while skiing out west. Lyndon Johnson, was notorious for pride in his genitalia. He held meetings with senior officials while he was on the toilet or otherwise and often was exposed. Lyndon Johnson was sexually active outside of his marriage. There was John Kennedy. From all accounts he was an unapologetic sexual predator of olympic appetites. He was preceded by FDR, like the others on this list, he had several mistresses both before and during their time in the White House. Before him, Warren Harding was involved with mistresses in the White House closets. Other than Clinton, and now Trump, the rest carried on with little or no public scrutiny or outcry.
In the 19th century Thomas Jefferson was sexually active with his slaves. Forty Nine year-old President Grover Cleveland married his 21-year-old ward, daughter of his deceased partner, whose estate he administered.
None of this activity seems to have prevented most of these men from accomplishing great things and being good leaders. It may have even helped. Those who did not succeed were not hindered by their extramarital activity.
People want bold and dynamic leaders. In order to succeed in politics you generally need to be an A-type personality. They are more often than not, best suited to deal with domestic and foreign enemies in dangerous and high-stakes games. That type of personality often brings with it some less than appealing personality traits manifesting in thought and action.
Had the behaviour of those leaders been public and judged based on standards of today’s political correctness and in the light of the internet, these men would be seen as the social and sexual transgressors that they were. I personally do not judge them, but then I can understand how a vast majority want their leaders to be role models.
There were many great presidents who were married and stayed faithful to their wives. Likewise there were failures as presidents who were faithful to their marriages. It may make a difference to those whose expectations of their presidents include high moral standards. There is no evidence that commitment to their marriages affected their success or failure anymore than it did the sexually aggressive and predatory presidents.
The problem with Trump is the lies and cover-up. He also is seen by many as sleazy given the attitude he expressed on the Billy Bush tape. He is crass and creepy. Trump’s public bragging of his sexual exploits and prowess cannot be compared to any other president. There are very few ways, if any, by which Trump could be compared to any other president.
When it comes to Presidential sex, whether Democrats, Republicans, Federalist, or Whigs, there is no evidence that it affects one’s ability to do the job.
An update on my experience with estate lawyer Kim Whaley as detailed in my blog, “Kim Whaley Estate Lawyer Nightmare. Terrible Service, Predatory Billing” Published below on May 14, 2017.
Ms. Whaley has added to the costs and complexity of the litigation by suing me for defamation as a result of the article. Ms. Whaley seems to miss the point that the article is my opinion based on my experience of dealing with her. Truth is a defence.
The facts in that article are all subject of the original litigation between us and could have been presented in one forum and resolved. To me, it is further indication of her attitude toward dealing with me.
More telling, is the dishonourable dishonest vindictive and abusive attitudes she displayed towards me by filing a complaint against me with my Professional Body, The Law Society of Ontario. This in light of the fact that I never dealt with Ms. Whaley in my capacity as a lawyer. At all times I was her client.
The reason this is so disturbing is because the complaint is the same as her lawsuit against me for defamation. It includes her complaint about the conversation I recorded as a client, when I first spoke to her about my case.
When I advised her that I had made this recording, she threatened me in writing, to report me to the Law Society of Ontario if I used the recording.
I replied in writing, that even though I felt I had done nothing wrong as a client in recording the conversation in which she made representations she later backtraced upon, as a result of her threat, I agreed in writing not to use them.
I then received the letter from her then lawyer, Deborah Stephens, (Who I understand now works for her firm), asking for the recordings and agreeing that if I provided them, Ms. Whaley would not report me to the Law Society.
Well true to her treatment of me, after I provided a copy of the conversation, she reported me to the Law Society with respect to the recording. Exactly what she had agreed in writing not to do. Strangely enough, she identified her lawyer on the complaint to the Law Society as Valerie Edwards-LawPro lawyer. I was always under the impression that the organization that provides insurance to lawyers does so in defensive claims, not in prosecution of them. Although the lawyer being defended can retain the LawPro lawyer privately to act on their behalf, it somehow appears that her LawPro lawyer is acting in that capacity, other than in the defensive role with respect to her Law Society complaint.
This is further evidence of her dealings with me. Dishonest, dishonourable, vindictive, and unprofessional.
The above is the opinion and experience of the author as a litigant and a victim.
Pelosi and Schumer, and yes both of the Clintons have served the American people for several decades. America needs a change.
On November 9, 2016, the American people experienced one of the greatest failures in the history of democracy. GOP and Democratic voters alike turned their backs on the elite political ruling class of both parties. This was born of the frustration of watching their political system descend into a paralyzed and uncivil sideshow. It was that anger and that rejection that brought Donald Trump to power.
The danger in Donald Trump, is that he cares only about Donald Trump. The Russians were ahead long before they appeared to have a President of the United States that they could blackmail. With the fall of the Soviet Union, the West threw up their hands in victory and fell asleep. Putin divided Russia up amongst his friends. He then used Russian money to buy his way in to the upper echelons of the political and economic elite around the world. The Citizens United decision by the Republican Supreme Court, was the first nail in the coffin of American democracy. It has provided an unlimited source of untraceable money to buy American politicians.
Trump was just a continuation of the deterioration of America is a world leader. One of the worst things he has done is to appoint Cabinet Secretaries who all hold views in direct contradiction to the purpose and missions of their departments. They’re spending their time dismantling the strength and functionality of these departments. They are attacking and destroying the social and political gains that made America a beacon of freedom and liberty and hope and the leader of the free world.
The last chance for American democracy is for the Democrats to retake both houses of Congress. That will not happen with the already rejected, Pelosi and Schumer. They must step aside for the good of the party and the good of America. There are plenty of fresh young voices and leadership in the Democratic Party. They must come up with bold, practical and meaningful proposals and turn them into action.
If Pelosi and Schumer lead the Democrats into the midterms I fear they will again be rejected for the same reasons they failed before. This time the stakes are high. The survival of American democracy.
